Realogistics successfully assisted a steel group in completing four shipments of Shot Blasting Machines and work rolls, involving 5 x 40'FR, 1 x 20'FR, and 18 x 40'HC containers, totaling 24 containers. Challenges:
- Uncertain Preparation Time: The client could only provide an estimated preparation time, requiring the earliest possible vessel departure, creating significant time pressure.
- Large Container Demand: A large number of specialized and standard containers were needed at once, making container allocation difficult.
- Multi-Party Coordination: Coordination was required among the shipper, shipping company, and warehouse to ensure smooth transitions between all stages.
Solutions:
1. Early Communication for Space Reservation: Communicated with the client two months in advance and leveraged strong relationships to reserve space with shipping companies.
2. Multiple Channels to Secure Containers: To mitigate the risk of container shortages, applications were submitted to three shipping companies (COSCO, MSK, OOCL) in parallel, ultimately selecting OOCL after comprehensive consideration.
3. Efficient Arrangement for Gate-In: After securing space approval two weeks before departure, containers were loaded and gated-in over two days, with tight scheduling to avoid additional costs.
4. Smooth Gate-In Awaiting Departure: Ensured all containers were successfully gated into the terminal, awaiting vessel departure.
