Realogistics received a commission from an important client to arrange door-to-port freight forwarding services for a batch of molds to be transported from Italy to Shanghai. This task not only tested Realogistics' professional capabilities but also its ability to coordinate and manage operations under tight time constraints.
Cargo Information
- Description: SCORING TOOLS, FOLDING TOOLS
- Cargo Specifications:
- 120FR (3.82.72*3M) / 14.1 tons
- 2*40HQ / 7.265 tons
- Route: LA SPEZIA – SHANGHAI, with the designated carrier being OOCL
Operational Challenges
1. Tight Schedule: The client specified a particular vessel, but the cargo readiness date was very close to the vessel's departure date, leaving limited time for operations.
2. Complex Loading: The shipment required one flat rack container and two 40-foot high cube containers. The flat rack container, in particular, required the cargo to be transported to the overseas agent's warehouse for loading, adding complexity and time pressure.
3. Limited Space Availability: As the departure date approached, the designated vessel faced a shortage of available space. Realogistics actively coordinated with multiple overseas agents and successfully secured alternative shared space, ensuring the shipment proceeded as planned.
Operational Process
1. Quick Response and Planning
Upon receiving the client's commission, Realogistics immediately contacted the overseas agent, accurately relayed the cargo details and operational requirements, and selected an appropriate vessel schedule to lay the groundwork for subsequent operations.
2. Advance Booking and Seamless Coordination
Given that the cargo readiness date was only one week before the vessel's departure, Realogistics promptly instructed the overseas agent to book space in advance. Meanwhile, the pickup process was arranged in an orderly manner to ensure all steps were tightly connected without delays.
3. Efficient Pickup and Real-Time Updates
After the cargo was picked up, the overseas agent quickly transported it to the warehouse for container loading. During the loading process, photos of the cargo were promptly shared with the client, allowing them to monitor the cargo's status in real time.
4. Detailed Protection to Ensure Cargo Integrity
For the flat rack container, Realogistics specifically instructed the overseas agent to use tarpaulins for protection during transportation. This precaution minimized the risk of damage from rain or other external factors, ensuring the cargo remained in perfect condition.
5. Efficient Customs Clearance and On-Time Shipping
Once the loading was completed, Realogistics immediately coordinated the return of the containers and initiated customs clearance procedures. Thanks to its efficient and meticulous workflow, the shipment successfully met the client's specified vessel and schedule, completing the task on time.
