Project Background

Realogistics completed port-to-port transportation services for 35 containers of oil pipes and their accessories for a major client. The total cargo included 408 bundles, weighing 866.24 tons, and the transportation route was from Shanghai Port to Guayaquil Port. The services provided included warehouse packing and sea transportation to the destination port.

Key Operations

  • Packing: It was necessary to pack 35 large containers within a limited timeframe, requiring real-time communication to arrange arrival times, vehicle scheduling, unloading, and packing personnel.

  • Port Customs Declaration: All containers needed to be collected on time and successfully cleared through customs to ensure they were loaded onto the ship.

Operational Challenges and Solutions

  1. Cargo Arrival and Packing Due to tight delivery schedules, the factory worked overtime to produce the goods, and the cargo could not arrive early, requiring it to arrive in three batches over three days. Realogistics communicated effectively with the factory, especially during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, overcoming communication challenges to ensure the cargo arrived smoothly for unloading, packing, and reinforcement. Ultimately, packing was completed within the scheduled time, reducing the client's time costs.

  2. Port Customs Declaration Realogistics arranged the collection and customs declaration for all 35 containers on schedule, closely monitoring the customs clearance process to ensure the timely release of containers at the terminal and successful loading of the cargo onto the ship.

On-Site Coordination and Management

Realogistics dispatched dedicated personnel who arrived on site the evening of the goods’ arrival to coordinate unloading and expedite the stuffing process. On the morning of the port opening day, they returned to the site to verify that unloading, sorting, stuffing, and securing operations were proceeding smoothly and supervised the sealing of the containers after stuffing was completed.

It should be noted that this shipment consists of tubular goods, and the securing method for each container is the same. First, wooden planks and straps are pre-positioned at the bottom of the container. Then, the bundled tubes are lifted by crane and loaded into the container in sequence. After the tubes are properly stacked, the pre-positioned straps are tightened and lashed. Additional wooden planks are installed at the container door to prevent lateral movement of the tubes, ensuring greater safety and stability when lifting the entire container.

After the container arrives at the port, Realogistics continuously monitors the vessel loading process until the shipment is successfully loaded onboard.

Post-Departure Follow-Up

After the ship set sail, Realogistics continued to follow up on the cargo's progress, providing real-time updates to the client until confirmation of safe arrival. The overall level of service provided by Realogistics received unanimous recognition from the client.

The project case study of Realogistics has been organized into a clear and structured report, which you can view or download at any time.
