Project Name:
Oversized Equipment Inland Transport and Precision Unloading from Tianjin Port to Xi'an Factory
Client's Mandate:
A client commissioned Realogistics to handle the pickup of three oversized and overweight equipment cases, totaling 23.35 tons, from Tianjin Port. The scope included safe inland transportation to the client's factory in Xi'an and the complex task of unloading the equipment to a designated installation point inside the warehouse.
Cargo Details:
• Total Gross Weight: 23,350 kg
• Total Pieces: 3 (packed in wooden cases)
• Maximum Single-Piece Dimensions: 616 x 292 x 322 cm (L x W x H)
• Maximum Single-Piece Weight: 15,500 kg
Project Challenges:
1. Incomplete Information & Operational Constraints: The client could only provide the external packing dimensions and was unable to supply the net dimensions of the equipment. This created significant uncertainty for planning how to navigate the cargo through warehouse passages for precise placement.
2. Confined Operational Space: An initial on-site survey by the Realogistics team revealed that the client's warehouse had limited internal space and narrow aisles. Maneuvering heavy machinery and large forklifts would be extremely challenging and carry a high operational risk.
Solution & Execution Process:
1. Meticulous Planning & Preliminary Survey:
Upon accepting the project, the Realogistics team initiated multiple in-depth discussions with the client and conducted a thorough on-site survey to fully grasp the warehouse's physical limitations. Based on this intelligence, the team formulated an initial unloading strategy: utilize one 20-ton heavy-duty forklift for primary lifting, supplemented by a set of "one large, two small" electric roller crawlers (moving skates) for precise, short-distance maneuvering in the confined space.
2. In-Transit Review & Dynamic Confirmation:
On August 17th, the cargo departed from Tianjin Port. When the Realogistics port-side colleagues shared photos of the actual cargo, the Xi'an operations team immediately re-evaluated the operational plan against the visual information. This step re-confirmed the feasibility of the initial strategy, demonstrating a rigorous and responsible work ethic.
3. On-Site Adaptability & Resource Integration:
On August 19th, the cargo arrived at the Xi'an factory. To maximize safety and operational efficiency in the complex environment, the on-site team made a decisive judgment call: they supplemented the original plan by adding a 10-ton forklift for auxiliary support. Concurrently, responding to a last-minute request from the client, the team rapidly coordinated and deployed an additional crane to assist with the operation. This series of flexible, on-the-spot adjustments highlighted the team's strong resource integration capabilities and customer-centric service philosophy.
Project Outcome:
Leveraging its professional planning capabilities, rigorous work processes, and outstanding on-site adaptability, the Realogistics Xi'an team successfully overcame the dual challenges of incomplete information and physical site constraints. Ultimately, all three oversized pieces of equipment were safely and accurately unloaded and positioned at the client's designated installation area. The entire process was efficient and seamless, earning high praise from the client.
