Under the complex international logistics DAP (Delivered at Place) trade terms, customs inspections at the destination port are often an unpredictable challenge, especially when time is a critical factor .
In late October 2025, Realogistics successfully managed a time-sensitive DAP delivery task: the ocean freight project for 4x40HQ store display cabinets for a certain sports brand , from Shanghai, China, to Bangkok, Thailand. The key to this case was how the Realogistics team, facing customs inspection at the Thai destination port which compressed delivery time, ensured the goods were safely delivered to the store before the client's deadline through meticulous planning and efficient execution.
I. Project Background & Challenges
1. Project Overview:
• Date: Late October 2025
• Service: Ocean freight for 4x40HQ store display cabinets for a certain sports brand, from Shanghai, China, to Bangkok, Thailand, under DAP terms.
• Cargo Information: Store display cabinets for a certain sports brand, 4x40HQ in total.
• Transportation Mode: Full Container Load (FCL) Sea Freight
• Shipping Route: Southeast Asia
2. Core Challenges: The main difficulty of this project lay in the customs inspection at the Thai destination port, which directly shortened the final delivery window. Under DAP terms, Realogistics was responsible for all stages after customs clearance. Furthermore, the client had strict requirements for delivery time and method:
• Goods needed to be delivered to the store in two batches.
• The store was located within a shopping mall, requiring nighttime unloading after mall business hours.
• The cargo included oversized items, and display cabinets are highly susceptible to bumps and damage.
II. Realogistics Solution
Facing multiple challenges, the Realogistics team, leveraging its extensive experience in Southeast Asian DAP operations, developed and executed a detailed solution:
1. Meticulous Planning for Unpacking and Batch Delivery
• Proactive Communication: Even before the customs inspection results were available, Realogistics accurately communicated with the client based on their request for two-batch delivery. This included verifying the container numbers for the first batch of 22 pallets, as well as the detailed dimensions and weight of each pallet.
• Vehicle Matching and Unloading Plan: Recognizing the specific vehicle requirements for unloading, Realogistics proactively planned and arranged the most economical and suitable vehicle types and quantities for the site. For oversized cargo, a special unloading plan was designed to ensure the display cabinets remained free from bumps and damage during unloading.
• Time Savings: Completing these complex communication and calculation tasks in advance allowed Realogistics to arrange unpacking and batch inventory immediately after customs clearance, saving valuable time for on-site decisions and re-communication, thereby gaining crucial efficiency for the final delivery.
2. Efficient Coordination for Nighttime Delivery
• Consignee Coordination: Addressing the special requirement for nighttime unloading after business hours, Realogistics proactively coordinated with the consignee to arrange overtime unloading at night, ensuring delivery without disrupting mall operations.
• Full Monitoring: During delivery, the Realogistics team fully monitored the entire nighttime unloading operation, strictly controlling operational details to ensure the safe and intact unloading of high-value, fragile cargo.
• On-Time Delivery: Ultimately, Realogistics successfully delivered all goods safely and completely to the sports brand's store in Bangkok, Thailand, before the client's required store opening time, ensuring the store's timely grand opening.
III. Project Outcomes & Value
This Thai DAP project once again demonstrated Realogistics' professional adaptability in handling complex DAP terms and unforeseen circumstances:
• Addressing Inspection Challenges: Successfully overcame time compression caused by destination port customs inspection, minimizing impact through foresight and contingency planning.
• Precise Delivery: Achieved safe, complete, and on-time delivery within extremely strict time windows (nighttime unloading, meeting store opening) and considering cargo characteristics (fragile, oversized, multi-batch).
• Enhanced Customer Satisfaction: Through proactive communication, meticulous planning, and efficient execution, Realogistics ensured the smooth opening of the client's store, further solidifying its position as a reliable logistics partner.
Realogistics Reflection: Under DAP terms, uncontrollable factors at the destination port (such as customs inspections) place higher demands on a logistics provider's adaptability, foresight, and multi-party coordination capabilities. Realogistics is always committed to transforming these "uncertainties" into "certain" delivery capabilities through refined management and proactive service, providing clients with an exceptional logistics experience.
