Background
In April 2025, the Hong Kong branch of Realogistics was commissioned by a large travel agency to provide comprehensive local logistics support for its Macau branch. The project involved two main tasks: the disposal of confidential documents and the transportation of materials for a major exhibition.
Task 1: Document Collection and Destruction
Scope of Service: To assist the client in clearing and destroying a total of 108 items of discarded documents.
Operational Challenges:
Difficult Manual Handling: Some documents were stored in a cramped attic, requiring manual labor to move them down to the ground floor, which demanded significant physical effort and careful handling.
Volume Discrepancy: There was a significant difference between the client's initial volume estimate and the actual amount of documents on-site, meaning the single truck originally scheduled was insufficient.
Solutions:
On-Site Palletizing: To ensure transport efficiency, workers consolidated and palletized the documents outside the shop for quick loading.
Emergency Response: Realogistics' Macau partner responded swiftly by dispatching an additional truck, successfully managing the pressure from the unexpected extra volume.
Compliant Disposal: All documents were securely transported to the Waste Incineration Centre in the Taipa-Norte Industrial Zone and handed over to the appropriate Macau government unit for final destruction, ensuring a compliant and secure process.
Task 2: Material Transportation for the 13th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo
Exhibition Details:
Date: April 25-27, 2025
Venue: Halls A, B, and C, The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo
Goods Transported: Desks, round stools, folding chairs, brochure display stands, computer equipment, A4 paper, a floor-standing photocopier, and bottled water.
Operational Challenges:
Cost Optimization: The client initially planned to ship most materials (except the photocopier) from their Hong Kong headquarters to the Macau venue. Drawing on its local expertise, Realogistics advised the client to ship all materials directly from their Macau branch instead. This move significantly saved both time and money on cross-border transportation.
Special Handling: Similar to the document situation, the large, floor-standing photocopier was also located in the attic and required careful manual handling.
Solutions:
Efficient Delivery: All exhibition materials were packed and palletized outside the client's Macau office and then delivered directly to the Venetian expo hall, ensuring everything was in place for the setup.
Prompt Teardown: After the expo concluded, the team quickly entered the venue to pack all materials and returned them safely to the client's local office that same evening, completing an efficient teardown and move-out.
