Realogistics provided sea freight forwarding services for aircraft components from Spain to Tianjin

Realogistics was entrusted by a client to transport aircraft parts from an airport in Spain to Tianjin Port in China. The shipment consisted of 10 pieces, with a total weight of 7,000 kg and a main body length of approximately 10 meters. The transportation faced two major challenges: first, the aircraft parts required special export clearance through a third-party export declaration, but it was difficult to find a suitable company in Europe, and export declaration in Spain was problematic. Second, air freight was restricted due to the size of the cargo, sea freight was not feasible from Spanish ports, and rail transport was not an option due to the inability to transit through Russia.

Realogistics devised an efficient solution by leveraging its domestic partner’s European company to resolve the export declaration issue and changing the departure port to Rotterdam in the Netherlands, with Tianjin Port as the destination. To address the cross-border container issue, Realogistics purchased its own containers to reduce the cost of empty container pickup and return, with plans to sell the containers after arrival at the destination. The transportation route was optimized by using rail transport from Spain to Antwerp, followed by truck transport to Rotterdam, significantly reducing costs. Additionally, to resolve the VGM (Verified Gross Mass) declaration issue caused by the lack of weight data at the Spanish airport, Realogistics instructed the truck agent to weigh the cargo before delivery to the port, successfully completing the VGM declaration.

The operation process was clear and efficient: on June 28, the transportation plan was finalized, and container procurement was initiated; on July 26, cargo pickup and container loading were completed; from July 26 to August 12, the cargo was transported by rail to Antwerp and then by truck to Rotterdam; on August 21, the cargo was warehoused and departed from Rotterdam; from October 5 to 17, the cargo arrived at Tianjin Port, where the client completed customs clearance and pickup, and the empty containers were returned to the depot.

Realogistics demonstrated its professional expertise in overcoming multiple challenges, successfully achieving efficient and cost-effective international transportation while ensuring the cargo arrived on time.
