Recently, entrusted by a VIP client, Realogistics undertook the ocean freight import business of a batch of old mechanical and electrical equipment from Singapore to the Port of Shanghai. Facing multiple special requirements such as bare cargo, restricted pickup environment, and complex dismantling and restoration work, the Realogistics team relied on professional survey planning, rigorous compliance management, and efficient on-site execution to successfully overcome operational challenges and smoothly complete the ocean freight delivery to the port.
Cargo & Transportation Information
• Origin/Destination: Singapore —— Port of Shanghai, China
• Cargo Attribute: Old mechanical and electrical equipment (Bare cargo)
• Dimensions: 2400 1800 2250 mm
• Gross Weight: 1500 KG
• Container Type: 1 * 20GP
Operational Challenges
1. Extremely Restricted Moving Environment: The equipment was located on the 3rd floor. Due to height limits, it could not be carried out of the office normally.
2. Complex "Dismantling and Restoration" Work: It required coordinating with construction workers to remove 2 doors, move the equipment to the balcony, remove the guardrails, and then use a crane to transport it to the ground floor; moreover, all dismantled parts had to be completely restored to their original condition.
3. Full-Process Equipment Coordination: The entire pickup process required the deployment of heavy moving equipment such as cranes and pallet jacks.
4. Warehousing and Reinforcement for Bare Cargo: After pickup, the bare equipment had to be delivered to Realogistics' own warehouse for professional packaging and reinforcement.
Realogistics Solutions
• Pre-operation Survey to Ensure Feasibility: Before the operation, professional agents were arranged to conduct an on-site survey to evaluate and plan the feasibility of all stages, considering cargo characteristics, door removal, guardrail removal, crane operations, and subsequent restoration.
• Multi-party Coordination for Smooth Moving and Restoration: Cranes, pallet jacks, and other equipment were fully equipped on-site, and construction workers were efficiently coordinated. The operations of door removal, balcony moving, and high-altitude hoisting to the ground floor were completed strictly according to the predetermined plan, and the construction team perfectly restored all dismantled areas to their original state.
• Professional Reinforcement and Strict Compliance: After the equipment was transported to our own warehouse, compliance management was carried out throughout the process addressing the bare cargo characteristics, with standardized packaging, reinforcing materials, and lashing plans developed and executed. To ensure compliance regarding road permits for oversized cargo, accurate cargo drawings and multi-angle photos were provided before loading to clarify the maximum external dimensions.
• Visualized Operations for Risk Prevention: During the loading and securing stages, relevant requirements were strictly followed. The entire container stuffing and lashing process was photographed and documented for subsequent approvals and to perfect the claim prevention mechanism.
Case Summary: Highlighting the Core Advantages of Realogistics
The successful delivery of this project not only ensured the timely stuffing, release, and ocean arrival of the cargo but also thoroughly demonstrated the three core values of Realogistics in handling complex projects:
1. Professional On-site Survey and Cross-functional Coordination Capabilities: Facing a complex scenario integrating "dismantling, construction, hoisting, and transportation," Realogistics can quickly dispatch agents, cranes, moving personnel, and construction workers to ensure seamless integration of all stages.
2. Rigorous Compliance and Risk Management Mechanisms: From road permit compliance and oversized dimension declarations to standardized warehousing packaging and loading plans, risk prevention is managed proactively.
3. High-standard Visualized and Standardized Operations: Realogistics insists on providing detailed drawings/photos before loading and keeping full visual records of container stuffing and lashing for verification, safeguarding the clients' cargo security with standardized on-site execution.
